Pair of "Vanessa" floor lamps by Angelo Brotto for Esperia, circa 1970ANGELO BROTTO for ESPERIARare pair of "Vanessa" floor lamps composed of 5 white lacquered metal tubes of various heights, topped by a coral vermicelli glass cylinder for one, white for the other, surrounding a higher chrome cylinder.Height. 157 cmDiam.: 30 cm25 kg each, that is to say50 kgScratches to the white lacquer, an orange glass jar split along its length, a crack and small lack on a white glass jar, the discs on top of the chrome parts have some pitting.Angelo Brotto (1914, Venice-2002, Campiglia Marittima, Italy) was a Venetian designer and artist who is known for his work as a creator of lamps and his works in glass. He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia in 1941, and immediately afterwards was commissioned by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to create frescoes in Montenegro.In the late 1940s he designed glass objects for Peggy Guggenheim and during his career received numerous design and art awards in Bergamo, Cremona, Suzzara, and at the Exhibition of Engravings in Rome.Brotto collaborated with the Murano glass factory Esperia during the 1960s and 1970s and became a glass designer capturing the essence of Time, creating joyful and modern forms, breaking with the tradition of Murano glass. He won numerous awards for his designs.

Angelo BROTTO
Angelo Brotto was an Italian designer who was born in Mirano in 1914 and died in Padua in 2002. He studied architecture at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts before turning to industrial design in the 1950s.
