About this vintage design furniture
Beautiful and iconic Cleopatra daybed designed in 1954 by A.R. (Dick) Cordemeyer for Auping (the Netherlands). Typical Mid Century Dutch design. The elegant yet industrial design is new in the bedrooms at the time. The boat-shaped dark gray metal frame has slightly slanted, tapered legs and teak wood ornaments on the short sides. The Cleopatra daybed was sold by the Dutch high end department store De Bijenkorf in the 50s. This example can certainly also be called elegant. The new, cut-to-shape mattress is upholstered with a dark gray wool felt fabric from Keymer. Design, colors and materials complement each other well with this Cleopatra daybed.
