About this vintage design furniture
A beautiful large hanging lamp with a hand blown Murano glass light from the 1970s. The uniquely shaped lamp has an ivory white hue and has been shaped to accommodate the lamp holder in a recess at the bottom of the glass shade. When lit, it casts its light directly downwards and also diffuses a pleasant soft light inside the shade, highlighting the exquisite "Pulegoso" glassware. Pulegoso glass, as it is called in the Murano glassworks, is characterised by innumerable small irregular air bubbles ("pulighe" in Venetian) inside the glass mass, which deliberately limit its transparency. It is obtained by adding substances such as petrol to produce a boiling effect on the molten glass. The structure is made of brushed brass. The lamp is suspended from the ceiling with a steel wire. The lamp is in good condition compatible with age and use. The lampshade is intact, it presents a very small imperfection due to a manual treatment as visible on the last picture. Minimal traces of oxidation on the frame. The wiring and the standard E27 lamp holder have been replaced. Professionally cleaned. Weight: 5,650 kg
