About this vintage design furniture
One off handcrafted piece by German artist Ferdi Walther (1911-2000). He was a sculptor and painter, but also crafted more abstract metal relief pieces of which this evocative wall sculpture is one. It depicts a woodland scene where two couples connect underneath the canopy of two large trees. Their story is told through the composition of flowing lines, circles and rectangles in varying dimensions, creating a very harmonious composition. The reflective highlights of the metal enhance the relief and three dimensional character of the piece. Another illustration of his metal artwork can be viewed at Red Cross HQ in Dusseldörf (see photo). In very good original condition. Signed and labelled at the back. Dimensions: H: 27,5cm x W: 126 cm x D: 6 cm
