Pair of vintage Italian table lamps in brass & black metal, 1950s

Stilnovo style table lamps, a pair, polished brass & black enameled metal, 1950’s ca, Italian. This pair of table lamps have been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. They are newly rewired & earthed, PAT tested by an electrician and ready to install. Each has a new black tone silk cable & a new black plug. These lights can be use with a dimmer. It is possible to use these lamps in other countries although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity. This pair of Mid-Century lamps have the quality & detail of the Italian manufacturer Stilnovo Lighting. For example the geometric lines, petite size, combination of solid brass with enameled metal, and the articulated neck. One famous designer for Stilnovo was Gaetano Sciolari and these lamps have features of his work. From the back of the base, a polished brass column raises in angle towards the shade & lamp holder. There is a brass adjustable pivotal key with handle attached to the perimeter of the cylindrical shade. This allows to move the shade & light source in different positions. The shade is in black enameled with a pierced motif at the border. This creates interesting reflections. The back of the shade in black enamel has a indentation with a flat round brass finial, This is also pierced to diffuse heat. An E14 metal lamp holder is fitted to the internal side of this finial. Each lamp carries 1 standard small screw light bulb (E14) up to 40 Watts. At present they are fitted & photographed with Pygmy Clear shaped light bulbs of 15 Watts. These are included in the price. Other E14 lightbulb shapes could also be used for a different effect such as Golf, Candle or Spot. Underneath each base has the original removable white enameled metal cover to access the wires. There are also tiny feet to protect the furniture below. These lamps are in very good vintage condition. The enameled & brass surfaces are in good condition with no cracks and only minor marks in line with age & wear. On the brass surfaces the original clear lacquer is mostly present. Where rubbed a warm patina has developed adding to the character.
