Vintage transatlantic cabin trunk, 1930

Very nice 1930's Warrobe trunk-cabin probably made by Innovation in its Vincennes factory. Intended to carry all the personal effects of the traveller, it has many storage spaces. On one half, 2 telescopic chrome steel hangers allow jackets, suits and tailors to be hung on the 8 hangers provided. At the bottom, 2 flexible fabric pockets are designed to hold shoes, thus isolating them from the clothes hanging above. In the other half, we have a large tilting compartment which is held open by 2 straps: the clothes stored there can be separated with a plate and strapped to avoid being crumpled when closing this compartment. Underneath, we have 2 drawers and once closed, the whole unit is securely fastened with a chrome steel bar. On the top, there remains a storage space for toiletry bags and other small personal effects. The original interior fabric is in very good condition with a few small stains. The drawers have beautiful chrome steel handles typical of the Art Deco style. Externally, the hardware is complete, the trunk locks (the key is later), the brass is in original condition without having been brushed or polished in a flashy way and the leather handle, still present, allows to move the trunk. The coated canvas is in very good condition and has rare traces of transport. Superbly preserved in its original state with all its accessories, we have here a beautiful object of decoration. Moreover, its former owner confided to us that this trunk-cabin had two transatlantic crossings to its credit, which undoubtedly gives it a little extra soul.
