About this vintage design furniture
A free-standing mid-century modern birch molded plywood bookcase with beautifully shaped shelves. Designed by Wilhelm Lutjens in 1953 for Den Boer in Gouda, the Netherlands. This item has been restored, but still shows signs of wear on the bottom shelves, as shown in the photos.

About the designer
Willem LUTJENS
Willem Lutjens was a Dutch designer, born on January 24, 1894 in Amsterdam and died on January 9, 1959 in Wassenaar. He studied architecture at Delft Polytechnic before turning to design. He worked for several design companies, including Metz & Co, where he created fabrics and wallpapers.
