About this vintage design furniture
Mid-century large cocoon pendant lamp style Achille Castiglioni made in Italy in 1960s. The key feature of this iconic hanging lamp by architect Achille Castiglioni is the new material used to make it. The frame is metal covered in Cocoon spray-on plastic. In the United States, after World War II, a new type of fiberglass-reinforced spray-on plastic coating called Cocoon was invented to protect disarmed warships. This innovative material was imported to Italy by Arturo Eisenkeil, a small manufacturer from Merano, which used this resin to make lampshades and then put it on the market. Excellent vintage condition. Maximum height with cable 130 cm. For safety reasons, the wiring has been completely replaced.
