About this vintage design furniture

Exceptional Art Deco column in amaranth and solid mahogany. This column has an octagonal top with four amaranth veneered elements around the perimeter and a light wood square in the center. The latter is embellished with antique labels indicating the name of a colony (Cambodia, Madagascar, Guyana...) associated with the scientific names of plant species characteristic of the country. The edge of the top, which protrudes from the wall, is composed alternately of amaranth or mahogany. Underneath, sloping elements also alternate these wood species, as do the wide, eight-sided shaft flaring downwards and the large octagonal base. This important column is a rare piece of furniture in terms of its shape, wood species and associated remains, bearing witness to a bygone colonial era in French history. ******** Period: 1930 Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
