About this vintage design furniture

This original three-seater leather Chesterfield sofa was made by Artistic Upholestery Limited in England during the 1950s. It is an example of the classic English style from the 19th century. The item has original sign. It is one of the most recognizable pieces of furniture in the world. The sofa chest is made of solid wood. It is upholstered with brick-colored natural leather. The sofa has three thick and comfortable seat cushions filled with duck feathers. Deeply set buttons, which have become the hallmark of the quilted sofa, emphasize its character. An additional advantage are Shepherd wheels, which make it easy to move. Perfect for both classic and modern interiors. As it became more popular, the Chesterfield sofa found its way into the homes of many wealthy families, where the trend was for sofas upholstered in luxurious velvet or leather to match the elegant décor around them. Sofas have also become the equipment of many London gentlemen's clubs, such as White's founded in 1693 and Carlton Club founded in 1832. For centuries, a comfortable place to sit and chat for the city's most influential men. One of the most popular uses of the 19th century Chesterfield sofa was the office of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. While developing his technique, he realized that the most effective way of extracting the patient's innermost thoughts and feelings is to make patients speak freely, without fear of overtones, so he always carried this sofa with him when traveling the world. Artistic Upholestery Limited is still a family business, founded in 1952 by Jim Mitchell. Jim was educated by his father, a respected designer and furniture manufacturer. In 1998, the company received the prestigious Manufacturing Guild Mark from the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers in recognition of its high quality production and workmanship. Shepard wheels were manufactured by the English company Kenrick, which has been providing the highest quality furniture accessories since 1948. This sofa is in original vintage condition with traces of age and a natural patina. It has cracks and scrapes on the leather. The seat is 40 cm high. More photos on request.
