Vintage plaster sculpture by Aoussauti, France

From a gallery in Nice, Cannes, France, this large head bears the signature of Aoussauti. There is very little information about this signature, but it is a unique masterpiece. It's a magnificent sculpture in French plaster with many shades of bronze. Natural gypsum in dihydrate form is a naturally occurring mineral found all over the world. The most important and best-known location for plaster is in and around Paris, in the Paris Basin, also known as "Plâtre de Paris". Artists love working with this material because of its strength and hardness, and the material becomes timeless, in addition to the fact that it is of course wonderful to work with.
