The work of Danish designer Erik Kirkegaard (1905–1991) for Glostrup Møbelfabrik Furniture, it presents the characteristics of Nordic design: simple and minimalist but functional. Within Nordic design, specifically, Danish design is eminently functional, greatly influenced by the Bauhaus. Danish designers used new industrial technologies, combining functionality with simplicity to create all types of objects, from buildings to furniture to various household objects, many of which have become iconic designs. After the Second World War, Denmark had the ideal conditions to achieve success in design. Denmark's late industrialization, combined with a tradition of high-quality craftsmanship, formed the basis of gradual progress towards industrial production.
