Vintage Sapelli mahogany writing desk, 1960

The lower part of this sapele mahogany writing desk features a double door, horizontally veneered, mounted on brass knobs and pulled by brass and black laminate handles. When open, these doors conceal a small shelf occupying half the depth of the space. The desk also opens through a drop leaf, mounted on sliding compasses and fitted with a functional lock, a keyhole and an original key. The inside of the panel is in cream-colored laminate. The interior also features a small shelf over half its depth. A niche overhangs this piece of furniture, adding interesting storage capacity. The whole unit rests on four Scandinavian-style legs.
