Set of 8 vintage chairs in stainless steel and curly wool by Paul Legeard, 1970

This rare suite of eight chairs in stainless steel and looped wool was designed by French designer Paul Legeard in 1970. The geometric structure of curved steel slats supports the seat cushion and backrest, both reupholstered in beige looped wool fabric by Dedar. Paul Legeard's Art Deco and modernist influence is evident in the strong lines of the steel structure and the elegant character of the seats. These chairs are very rare, and have been fully restored and reupholstered. Paul Legeard (1901 - 1991) was a French furniture maker. He began his design career in the 1930s at Baccarat, the flagship of French glassmaking. Inspired by modernist principles and the Art Deco movement, his style became synonymous with understated sophistication. Légeard's innovative creations earned him prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale in 1954. Reference : 306412
