Porcelain filter – drip designed by Melitta Bentz, who patented porcelain drippers. It is used to brew coffee using the pour-over method. Just put a paper filter in it, add ground coffee, place the dripper on a jug or mug and pour hot water over the coffee. The idea was born in a kitchen in 1908 in Dresden. Housewife Melitta Benz, wanting to speed up the preparation of her morning coffee, punched holes in the bottom of a tin can and placed tissue paper from her son's school notebook on it. Shortly thereafter, she submitted this invention to the patent office. Melitta filters are known all over the world.
