About this vintage design furniture

Exquisite Arita porcelain or Imari porcelain vase, the work of Fujii Shumei, an artist recognized for his ability to portray nature. Signed on the base. The body of the vase has a practically round shape with a very short and narrow mouth. What looks like a winter sunrise in a mountainous landscape is depicted on the surface of his entire body. The magnificent chromatic play of the sky stands out. Fujii Shumei uses a technique called “leaf technique,” in which natural tree leaves are used in the dyeing process to represent trees on the porcelain pieces. When young leaves, such as magnolia leaves, are pressed against unglazed ceramics, the veins of the leaves emerge as dark lines, outlining mountains. Thus, with just a few leaves, an entire forest can be represented. Arita porcelain or Imari porcelain is the Western name for porcelain products made in the town of Arita. It has its origins in the 17th century, since a Korean craftsman discovered a kaolin deposit in the Arita region in 1616. It should be noted that before this discovery, all the ceramics that existed in Japan were imported from China and Korea. Korean cooking techniques were then combined with Chinese influence in the designs. Dimensions: 32 x 28 x 28 cm. / Base 11 cm. diameter. Reference : 309808
