Francis JOURDAIN

Francis Jourdain had a passion for design and architecture from an early age. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux and then moved to Paris to continue his training. He quickly became involved in the art movement of the time, notably Art Nouveau and Art Deco.

Early in his career, Jourdain became interested in the construction of furniture and functional objects. He was one of the forerunners of industrial design in France, seeking to combine aesthetics and functionality in his creations. His furniture was characterized by simple, uncluttered geometric forms and the use of materials such as wood, metal and glass.

In addition to his work in furniture design, Francis Jourdain also distinguished himself as an interior architect. He designed several interior spaces for prestigious clients, including hotels, boutiques and restaurants. His style was characterized by a modern, functional approach, while retaining a certain elegance and sense of harmony.

Francis Jourdain was also a respected writer and art critic. He published several works on design, architecture and the decorative arts, contributing to the promotion and recognition of design in France.

His influence continues to this day, and his creations are considered emblematic examples of early 20th-century French design. Francis Jourdain played an important role in the development of design in France, and contributed to the recognition of design as an artistic discipline in its own right.
