After graduating from Stockholm Technical College, Larsson began his career working as a draughtsman and interior designer. He quickly made a name for himself with his functional approach to design and innovative use of materials.

In the 1880s, Axel Larsson co-founded the "Gustavsberg" company, which specialized in the production of ceramics and porcelain. His work at Gustavsberg helped establish Sweden's reputation as a center of modern design.

Larsson is also known for his fruitful collaboration with his wife, Karin Bergöö Larsson, a talented artist and designer. Together, they created harmonious, functional interiors, combining furniture, decoration and art in a typically Swedish style, which later became known as "Gustavian".

Axel Larsson has also played an active role in teaching design and interior architecture. He was a professor at the Stockholm School of Decorative Arts and trained many eminent designers and artists.

Throughout his career, Axel Larsson received numerous awards and distinctions for his outstanding work. His legacy as a visionary designer continues to influence contemporary Scandinavian design.

Axel Larsson died on January 17, 1919, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of design and architecture. His work is still admired and studied, and he is considered one of the pioneers of Swedish design.
