Biography
Philippe Starck was born in France in 1949. He studied at the famous Ecole Camondo in Paris, then set up his 1st design company in 1968. A year later, the young designer collaborated with Pierre Cardin, then decided to work alone and turned to industrial design. He enjoyed great success in the 1980s, and was responsible for decorating and furnishing the private apartments of President François Mitterrand. Starck subsequently collaborated with Les 3 Suisses and La Redoute to develop his concept of "democratic design". A revolutionary idea, since at the time design was intended only for the elite. A visionary, he also pioneered the concept of "democratic ecology", designing wind turbines, solar-powered boats and even hydrogen-powered vehicles. Starck has built a veritable brand around his name and his talent, and is a key figure in the world of design!
